Miño in the nature
Its privileged location in the Betanzos Estuary gives it an environment of great beauty with incomparable natural landscapes. Enter and discover its viewpoints, routes and trails.
Senda dos Sentidos
The Senda dos Sentidos is a pedestrian and linear path of just over one kilometre that connects the promenade of the Ribeira beach - port of Miño with the promenade of the Alameda in Ponte do Porco. The path meanders according to the vegetation and the orography, respecting its characteristics.
As it is linear, it can be started at either end. Due to its low difficulty, it is perfect for families, with special attention to the cliffs.
It is located in the most valuable natural area of Miño, due to its high wealth of wild species of flora and fauna. It is located within the Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Betanzos-Mandeo, in an area classified as a Site of Community Interest (SCI) and classified as Zone 2 in the Natura 2000 Network Master Plan, corresponding to the mouth of the rivers Lambre and Mandeo in the Betanzos estuary, an area of great environmental and scenic interest.
For all these reasons, we ask for silence during the route so as not to disturb the birds that inhabit it and also to keep pets on a leash at all times as they may pose a threat to the conservation of the native fauna. There are no litter bins in this area because any rubbish that is deposited here attracts wild animals that can spread it all over the area. It is everyone's responsibility to collaborate in the maintenance of a place with such special values as this.
The main circuit of the path marks the passage areas in an environment protected for its environmental value, keeping areas free of traffic in order to improve its biodiversity.

Enjoy a unique walk with dreamlike views and an ecosystem of great diversity of flora and fauna, in which stand out native species of the riverside forests such as willows, ash and oaks. The route takes place in the parish of Callobre and is a small circular path of 1.3 km that runs along a stretch of the Medio River, a tributary of the Lambre, and can be started at any end. From the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a continuous descent to the river. The climb from the old Fábrica da Luz has some demanding slopes, but for its short duration and constant stops, it is within reach of any walker. It crosses a dense and fresh stretch of riverside forest where there are a series of 4 traditional mills, combining sections of walkways, footpaths and stone stairs. Later the route leaves the river and passes through an area of forest in which oak and pines are mixed, until reaching the end of the tour with the Chapel of Guadalupe and the source of Augas Santas, which according to legend has miraculous waters. For it protects from envy and evil eye, as well as from plagues. Popular tradition and beliefs made the collection of water from this source to spray the land and thus preserve the crops.

The English Way
Miño is one of the towns along the English Way that leads to Compostela, where the tomb of the Apostle Santiago is located. The route crosses for 7 kilometers a good part of the municipality, along a rich cultural and landscape variety, in which the walker feels part of an exceptional environment. Allowing to enjoy a landscape that combines sea and interior, along with essential enclaves to understand the history of the road that takes us back to the most medieval Europe, such as the bridge Ponte Baxoi, the Marshes of the river Baxoi, or the beautiful and picturesque town of Ponte do Porco. On foot or by bicycle, this path traced throughout history is one of the most traveled paths for humanity. Reaching its peak in the late Middle Ages and early Modern Ages, attracting people and societies from all over Europe. Especially Englishmen, Scots and Irish who arrived in Galicia by boat and landed in the safe estuaries of Coruña and Ferrol. They all contributed to fix what we know today as the English Way. The strategic location of these ports clearly boosted the route, in fact in 1434 it is known that more than 3000 pilgrims landed in A Coruña.
Ponte do Porco
Ponte do Porco is a beautiful town where the Lambre river flows along a charming route, forming the Alameda Beach. Brother Martín Sarmiento during one of his trips in 1745, he described it in his diary as follows: "This intermediate territory is the most amusing in sight that can be desired".
This is a natural area of great environmental and landscape value, which has the ZEC protection figure, this is a Special Conservation Area. It is also part of the Natura 2000 network, a large group of protected natural areas across Europe. Among its fauna stands out the common garzota (Egretta garzetta), the lavender (Anas platyrhinchos), the otter (Lutra lutra) and the beetle (Euriynebria complanata). As far as the flora is concerned, the sea rush (juncus maritimus) and the watercress (Ammophila arenaria) stand out.
The town owes its name to the head of boar, symbol of the House of Andrade, which has the old bridge on one of its sides. There is a beautiful legend that says that on this bridge, Roxín Roxal slit the throat of the boar that killed his beloved Teresa.
In the gardens there is a curious monument in honor of Fernán Pérez de Andrade, it is a cross on a boar that symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. From this monument there is a beautiful wooden footbridge that allows you to travel the area to the beach of Alameda and discover the charms of this natural environment.
